Our journey started with just 4 back yard chickens from a local farm. We chose 3 australops and 1 barred rock. We raised those babes up to exactly 26 weeks when we got our first eggs! We were thrilled and so happy to be raising our own food. This was definitely the start of our homesteading journey. Fast forward a few months, we had the opportunity to truly experience farm life when we moved to Ocala, Florida. We were given a free Salmon Faverolle rooster and introduced to Rural King. Man, did I go chick crazy! I got to experience all the different breeds! Then, we were introduced to local farm swaps! When you grew up primarily a city girl with a love for animals.. When you finally get to live it, you might go a tad crazy. 4 chickens quickly turned into 30, which turned into chickens and ducks… then chickens, ducks, and quail.. to now chickens, ducks, geese, quail, turkeys, rabbits, and a garden to feed us all!

This journey has been stressful at times, but FULL of knowledge, fun, and passion! I have finally found the breeds I am truly passionate about raising and breeding and now get to share that with all of you!
